New Doors on the Units You Already Have
Kitchen cabinets are boxes, and well-made boxes last a long time. What wears out first is everything bolted to the front: doors that have faded in the sun, edges chipped by years of knocks, hinges that sag, and a style that was fashionable twenty years ago. Replacing those parts gives you most of the change of a new kitchen while keeping the plumbing, wiring, appliances and floor exactly as they are.
At your visit we open every cupboard and drawer, check that the cabinets are square and dry, and measure each opening. Then the new doors and fronts are made to those sizes and fitted on new hinges, aligned so the gaps are even all the way along. Old doors are taken away when we finish.

What's Included When We Replace Your Doors
Measuring Every Door & Drawer
Each opening is measured at your home, so doors and fronts are made to fit your cabinets rather than a catalogue size.
Made-to-Measure Doors & Fronts
New doors, drawer fronts and appliance doors in the style and colour you choose, sized to your kitchen.
End Panels, Plinths & Cornice
Matching side panels, kickboards and top trims, so the whole kitchen looks finished, not just the doors.
Soft-Close Hinges & New Handles
Fresh hinges so every door closes quietly, and handles or knobs in the finish you prefer.
Removal of the Old Doors
Your old doors, fronts and packaging go with us when the job's done.
Adjusting & Aligning Every Door
Each door is set level with its neighbours and the gaps evened up before we hand the kitchen back.
Makeovers explained
The Kitchen Makeover Most People Mean
When people talk about a kitchen makeover, this is usually what they have in mind: new doors and fronts, new handles, and often a new worktop, all on the existing cabinets. It's the step between a lick of paint and a whole new kitchen.
A budget makeover keeps it to doors, drawer fronts and handles. A fuller one adds end panels, plinths, a new worktop, and perhaps a new sink and tap. Either way, the layout stays, so there's no strip-out, no moving pipes and no replastering. That's where the saving comes from. If you'd like the worktop done at the same time, see our kitchen worktops page, or ask for both in one quote.
Door styles
Shaker, Slab, In-Frame or Handleless?
Shaker
A framed door with a recessed centre panel. It suits almost any home, from a Victorian villa in Boscombe to a 1990s semi in Ferndown, and works well painted.
Slab
A flat, plain door for a clean modern look. Good in compact kitchens and flats where you want the room to feel bigger.
In-Frame Look
Doors that appear to sit inside a frame, for a traditional, furniture-like finish. A natural fit for period cottages and stone-built homes.
Handleless
Flat fronts with a finger pull or a profiled edge, so there are no handles to catch on. Popular for a sleek, contemporary kitchen.

Prices
What Do Replacement Kitchen Doors Cost?
The price depends mostly on how many doors and fronts your kitchen has, and on the style and finish you pick.

| Kitchen | What's included | Typical time | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small kitchen (up to 8 doors) | Doors and drawer fronts, hinges, handles, fitting and removal of old doors | 1 day on site | £1,200–£2,200 |
| Medium kitchen (12–16 doors and fronts) | As above, plus end panels and plinths | 1–2 days on site | £2,200–£4,000 |
| Large or island kitchen (20+) | As above, plus cornice, island panels and appliance doors | 2–3 days on site | £4,000–£6,000 |
| Add a new worktop | A new worktop fitted at the same visit | Adds 1 day or more | See the worktops page |
Typical prices for Bournemouth and nearby towns. Your price is confirmed in writing after a free home visit. Times on site are a guide; made-to-measure doors take a while to arrive after you order, and we'll give you that date at your visit.
What affects the price of new kitchen doors?
- Number of doors and fronts. Every door, drawer front and panel is priced individually, so the size of the kitchen matters most.
- Style and finish. Painted and in-frame looks usually cost more than plain slab doors.
- Appliance doors. Integrated dishwasher, fridge and freezer doors need to be sized and hung to suit the appliance.
- Panels and trims. Adding end panels, plinths and cornice completes the look but adds to the price.
- Handles. A simple bar handle and a solid brass knob can be very different prices.

Respray, Wrap or New Doors?
There are three ways to change the look of kitchen doors, and each suits a different situation. Respraying paints your existing doors in a new colour. It can look good on solid wood or well-prepared doors, but it can't change the style, and wear on handle edges shows over time. Wrapping covers doors in a vinyl film. It's the cheapest option, but edges can lift near heat and steam. New doors change the colour and the style, come with new hinges, and start their life with a factory finish.
We fit new doors and fronts. We don't respray or wrap, but we're happy to explain which option makes sense for your kitchen at the visit.

Your questions
Replacement Kitchen Door FAQs
Will new doors fit my old units?
Almost always. Doors are made to the size of each cabinet opening, so standard and non-standard units can both take new fronts. At the visit we check that hinge positions and cabinet sides are in good enough condition.
How long do made-to-measure doors take?
It depends on the style and finish you choose. We'll give you the lead time with your quote, so you can plan around it.
Can you change just the drawer fronts?
Yes, if you only want certain parts replaced, but most people change doors and fronts together so the colours match exactly.
Do I need new hinges?
We recommend it. Old hinges are often worn or the wrong type for new doors, and fresh soft-close hinges make the kitchen feel new as well as look it.
